Treat Your Furry Friend at These Local Businesses

March 23rd is National Puppy Day! Our furry friends are always ready to show us love and affection and they deserve some recognition. Take your buddy for a walk, give them a treat, and have a snuggle. If you’ve always wanted a pet, consider adopting from the Oregon Humane Society. For those of you looking to pamper your pet, here are a few local places that cater to our canine companions.

  • Beaumont: Green Dog Pet Supply has made it their mission to specialize in environmentally friendly pet supplies and gifts for dogs, cats, and their people.
  • Foster: Headstrong Hound sells a variety of food, treats, supplements, toys, and accessories for dogs, cats, and small animals. They highlight BIPOC, women, and locally-owned brands whenever possible.
  • Gateway: Keep your dog feeling happy and looking great with Marlyna’s Pet Grooming
    services, beautifying canines since 1978.
  • Hawthorne: Portland Pet Supply Owner, Nina, is a pharmacist by training and had a love of animals growing up. She decided to carry a small number of vaccines for dogs and cats, which eventually led to the opening of her long-running pet store.
  • Lloyd: Pets on Broadway is Portland’s largest, locally-owned, independent pet shop and has been in business since 1990.
  • Midway: Since 1985, Town and Country Animal Hospital has provided same-day care to keep your pup happy and healthy. They are known for their Wellness Care Puppy Package which helps you care for your pet throughout every stage of their life.
  • Mississippi Ave: At Salty’s Pet Supply, there is a good chance you’ll be greeted by the owner’s dog, Parker J. Bearington when you visit — especially if you’re shopping in the treats section!
  • Montavilla: Personal Beast opened shortly after widespread pet food recalls in 2007. Their mission was to educate pet owners about biologically appropriate foods and the risks big businesses take when mass-producing products without proper oversight.
  • Multnomah Village: Healthy Pets NW has focused on natural pet nutrition and health for 20 years. For a unique and special experience, check out Pawsh Pet Cafe. They create all-natural baked goods for the most discerning dog. Sit Stay Fit helps busy dog owners keep their pets well-trained and in shape. Their services are great for a new puppy in your life that needs guidance.
  • St. Johns: Nature’s Pet Market provides the community with a selection of all-natural pet foods plus professional and self-serve grooming facilities. Keep your pet healthy at Tre Bone, a pet store that carries pet food free of corn, wheat, soy, by-products, and poor-quality ingredients.
  • Williams District: Mud Bay is an employee-owned pet store offering healthy food, toys, and supplies, as well as scientifically based nutritional guidance for dogs and cats.
