After another fly-by month, April is upon us! If you don’t already have it marked on your calendar, tomorrow, April 3rd, is National Burrito Day. Would you like a side of guacamole with that? If you weren’t sure what you were going to have for lunch tomorrow, maybe this e-mail will spark some ideas. Nearly every business district in Portland has a spot to grab Tex-Mex-inspired goodness, but here are a few tried and true spots to get you started.

  • 82nd Ave: The famed food cart pod, the Springwater Cart Park, has more than one option for delicious burritos! Pop by and peruse their amazing food carts.
  • Beaumont: If a burrito bowl is more your speed, Tacovore is a great option. Their modern spin with coconut black beans, jicama-radish kimchi, and a vegetarian smoked tofu option sounds good to us!
  • Central Eastside: If the name Robo Taco doesn’t have you hooked, then their food will. This offbeat spot has a very Portland vibe and is a welcome sight to the bar-hoppers along SE Morrison.
  • Division/Clinton: Nuestra Cocina offers house-made tortillas and sangrias in a creative, warmly decorated Mexican restaurant and bar.
  • Foster: The Portland Mercado is a celebration of all Latinx cultures. But if it is a burrito you are after, make sure to stop at Fernando’s Alegria when you visit the bustling marketplace. Fernando’s offers a creative twist to the classic burrito. No business district is complete without a neighborhood taqueria, and Foster’s Nayar Taqueria fits the bill. Their burritos check all the boxes.
  • Hillsdale: Salvador Molly’s has been at it since 1994. They utilize a lot of international flavors and you can always count on them for a fun experience.
  • Historic Parkrose: Known as “Portland’s hole in the wall for REAL Mexican food”, Antojitos is well known for their amazing tacos and their colorful building on Sandy Blvd. that you just can’t miss!
  • Montavilla: Tierra Del Sol brings authentic Mexican-Oaxacan food from recipes passed down from generations to Portland. They have another location at the Portland Mercado in SE too!
  • Raleigh Hills: Portlanders are serious about sustainability, freshness, and quality and you can find all three at Raul’s Family Mexican Restaurant. They utilize the best, locally grown ingredients they can find, and their food reflects that commitment.
  • St. Johns: El Coyote is a food cart with a small patio that is ideal for sunny spring days. Beto’s Taqueria is perfect for the person who wants classic Mexican cuisine made in a traditional way
  • Williams District: For Oaxacan cuisine, try Pepe Chile Birrieria. They also do catering so leave all the cooking for your next party to them!
