While Americans may not agree on everything, one thing is certain–everyone loves pizza. While Portland once lagged behind many of its peers in the pizza department, these days there are plenty of places in town that would give New York or Chicago a run for their money. Celebrate Portland Pizza Week with a trip (or three) to your favorite local purveyor of pies for special $4 slices. We have listed a few below to get you started.
- Beaumont: Amalfi’s is paying tribute to a pizza classic with a touch of sweetness and heat. Established in 1959, Amalfi’s was one of the first restaurants to bring pizza to the city of Portland.
- Division/Clinton: Atlas Pizza is offering a mouth-watering and smoky delight. It includes juicy turkey burnt ends that are melt-in-your-mouth good, plus applewood smoked bacon, rosemary potatoes, caramelized onions & fresh chives.
- Foster: To celebrate their 6th anniversary, Assembly Brewing decided that it’s time for the second coming of their Trinity pie. Expect caramelized Wisconsin brick cheese, signature marinara, sage & walnut pesto, and prickly pear balsamic glaze.
- Greater Brooklyn: Take a field trip to Ruse Brewing and try their “Field Trip” pizza, featuring Mississippi pot roast, house-pickled giardiniera, arugula, sea salt, and potato chips.
- Hawthorne: Straight From New York’s “Dill or no Dill Island” pizza includes a creamy mascarpone dill spread, pears, bacon, and blue cheese. Celebrate spring at Hotlips, with the “Spring Chicken” pizza. Housemade chicken sausage, a spicy blend of deliciousness in its own right, joins baby arugula’s peppery freshness and feta cheese to deliver tasty springtime tang.
- Mississippi Ave: Get ready for the “Hognato” Pizza from Mississippi Pizza Pub, a flavor storm that’s about to blow you away! A rich tomato sauce base sets the stage for smoky pulled pork and crispy bacon at the heart of this whirlwind. Pickled Anaheim, Fresno, and Poblano peppers spin in with a zesty punch, while pickled onions add a sweet, tangy twist.
- Montavilla: Ever wanted to have an entire Lebanese appetizer spread on your pizza? Dreams do come true. Ya Hala is dishing up a pie with crispy falafel, tender grape leaves, roasted cauliflower, and more.
- NW Industrial: Start your day at Pizza Thief with their “Desayuno” pizza, which features pork chorizo, roasted potatoes, cream, mozzarella, provolone, fontal, jalapeños, egg yolks, evoo, chives, and Hot Mama Salsa’s Smokey Chile Crunch Oil.
- Soul District: Crispy, Golden Spam seduces you with its salty bite. Portland’s own Choi’s Kimchi brings just the right amount of tangy heat and flavor, while sweet corn tries to keep it playful. This is the “Spam-Me” pizza at Baby Doll Pizza Northeast.
- St. Johns: Located in a vintage gas station with outdoor seating, Signal Station Pizza has been loved by the community since they opened in 2006. Their Pizza Week special, “Pura Vida,” features an olive oil base with whole milk mozzarella, plantains, Caribbean jerk chicken, toasted coconut, and a spicy coconut lime drizzle.
