Happy first day of fall, Portland! With the recent rains and cooler temperatures, we say goodbye to summer and hello to decorative gourds, cozy sweaters, and warm drinks. As the leaves begin to change, Portlanders start to prepare for the holiday season and winterize their homes in preparation for the inevitable rain (and maybe even some snow!). Are you ready? Here are a few local businesses that can help you make the most of the harvest season.

  • Alberta: Need a fall warm up while you shop? Head over to Case Study Coffee Roasters and try out their Burnside Blend.
  • Beaumont: Adorn has rolled out tons of great sweaters, jackets, and flannels to keep you toasty warm this fall.
  • Foster: Foster Outdoor is gearing up for fall and winter! In addition to a brand new shipment of rain gear from Marmot and Outdoor Research, they’ve also just begun stocking ski gloves, goggles, and Atlas snowshoes.
  • Lents: Need to do some home repairs as you prepare for the rainy season? Stop by the Green Lents Community Tool Library and check out the tools they have available for rent. Get ready for the fall harvest with Foster Feed and Garden, which specializes in animal feed, gardening supplies, pet products, and more.
  • Lloyd: Fall foliage is beautiful until you have to clean it up! Check out Broadway Ace’s selection of leaf blowers and rakes.
  • Old Town: Autumn is a beautiful time to visit the Lan Su Chinese Garden. The tranquil botanical garden features rare plants native to China, decorative stonework, and a tea shop.
  • Pearl District: Replace your old rain gear with the latest waterproof styles at US Outdoor, which has been family-owned since 1957.
  • Raleigh Hills: Start knitting that cozy fall sweater with help from Acorns and Threads, which has an excellent selection of fabrics, threads, charts, and kits. They also offer classes, stitch groups, and special events.
  • St. Johns: Weird Sisters Yarn is gearing up for fall with classes and new and fun yarns for those cozy projects. RoM Shoes has moved into their new location and is stocked up with all kinds of great fall items for men and women including shoes, scarves, and gear for fall adventures.  
  • Sellwood Moreland: Find cute vintage fall decor and Halloween-related items at Stars Antiques, which represents over 200 antique dealers.
  • Stadium District: Grab a warm fall beverage from Super Joy Coffee. They source their beans from uncommon places and use refined roasting techniques to bring about new and unique flavors.
  • Williams District: Reclamation features handmade goods, plants, gifts, and terrariums. Pick up a new houseplant to bring the garden inside as it gets chilly outside. For fall decor, stop by Blackthorn Mercantile to pick up some new items to freshen up your space.
  • Woodstock: Celebrate Oktoberfest with some authentic German bratwurst from Otto’s Sausage Kitchen, serving Portlanders since 1922.
