Halloween is just a few days away! Portland’s business districts are hosting family-friendly fun that will have you screaming with delight. There are plenty of options for trick-or-treating but you can also enjoy Day of the Dead celebrations, costume contests, pumpkin carving, scavenger hunts, and more. This year, make your Halloween magical by shopping local. Here are a few ways to get into the spirit of Halloween while supporting small businesses.
- 82nd Avenue: There are plenty of treats to discover at Around the World in 82 Dishes, an international celebration of food on 82nd Avenue happening through November 6!
- Alberta: The annual celebration of Día de los Muertos returns in person at St. Andrews Catholic Church on October 29. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Immigration Counseling Services.
- Beaumont: Don your scariest mask and Trick-or-Treat on Fremont Street! Look for balloons in front of 20 participating Beaumont businesses on October 31 from 4-6pm.
- Central Eastside: Cargo has once again created an offerenda for Day of the Dead. On October 29, visit the altar and add photos of your loved ones, enjoy food pop-ups, and join the altar bike tour organized by Milagro Theatre.
- Foster Area: Foster businesses are in the Halloween spirit with multiple events happening across the district! Enjoy free Halloween treat bags at Wild Mountain Wax on October 28-30, a Halloween Hound Hangout at Headstrong Hound and a zombie, western-themed dance party at Bar Maven on October 29, and a Dia de Los Muertos event at Portland Mercado on November 2.
- Gateway: Do you dare enter the haunted forest? Gendoveer Golf and Tennis is hosting an outdoor trick-or-treat path on October 31 from 4-6pm.
- Lloyd: The Lloyd Center has a slew of creepy events happening now through the 31st including the 13 Days of Horror Haunted House, Halloween Portraits, and the Addams Family Monster Mash.
- Multnomah Village: Celebrate Halloween all weekend long in Multnomah Village, October 28-31! All goblins and monsters are encouraged to visit at any time during the festive weekend to enjoy a variety of Halloween treats, decorations, and scary delights.
- Sellwood Moreland: Come for the parade, stay for the carnival! The Sellwood Monster March and Spooktacular will have all kinds of family-friendly Halloween fun on October 29 from 3-7pm.
- St. Johns: The St. Johns Boo-sters Trick or Treat Walk is back! Get your costumes ready to walk the district on October 29 from 1-3pm, where Candy Witches (aka community volunteers) will be handing out goodies at stores and along the streets.
- Williams District: This weekend, Wicked Williams brings lots of festive fun to North Portland with a bar crawl on October 29 and trick-or-treating and pumpkin painting at DIY Bar on October 30.
