Women’s History Month is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. It also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality. In Portland, the influence of women can be seen all over the City. We encourage you to recognize the accomplishments of the women in your life and to support the women-led businesses and organizations below.

  • Beaumont: Get airborne at Aerial Dance PDX, an aerial dance studio offering regular class instruction on a variety of aerial apparatus. Folly is a well-established women’s clothing boutique that makes 80% of the clothing they sell in-house. 
  • Central Eastside: Good Hand Studio offers sewing classes for children that help develop skills that build confidence, encourage problem-solving, and teach patience. The owners of Cargo travel the world to find artisans who create in the timeless manner of their culture. You’ll find everything from antique altarpieces to Japanese kokeshi, hand-loomed garments to tribal jewelry, and Indian architectural pieces to Balinese offering baskets.
  • Foster: In a district loaded with amazing women-owned businesses, Bar Carlo has been a Foster mainstay for more than 15 years. Owner, Melinda Archuleta, not only offers one of the best brunches in town, but has also curated a space that’s great for happy hour, pop-up shops, and is welcoming to all.
  • Gateway: Russel Modern Dentistry is a new, state-of-the-art, full-service, black and women-owned dental clinic in the heart of Gateway! 
  • Hawthorne: Looking to get some new ink? Try Tattoo 34, a street tattoo shop that specializes in both flash and custom-drawn pieces.
  • Lents: Check out Lighthouse Yoga next time you’re in Lents. Lighthouse provides an opportunity to use all of the benefits that yoga has to support your heart, your body, and your mind.
  • Lloyd: Founded over 100 years ago, Nielson’s Jewelers remains a family-run operation led by Jan Nielsen and her daughter Sara Winter. They pride themselves on their extensive industry knowledge and welcoming service. 
  • Midway: A Bead Source is indeed the ultimate source for beading, jewelry, and regalia supplies. From rainbows of tiny seed beads to exquisite shells and gemstones, this small shop is bursting with beautiful items. Make sure to check out their selection of spiritual gifts and books as well!
  • NW Industrial: Bodecker Cellars specializes in small lot, terroir-driven Pinot Noirs and is Co-owned by Athena Pappas, who studied wine-making at UC Davis and Chemeketa CC.
  • Old Town: The mission of The Women’s Foundation of Oregon is to focus the power of women’s collective resources to improve the lives of women and girls throughout Oregon. Floyd’s Coffee is Co-owned by Nicole Tignor and regularly hosts live music and local artists.
  • St. Johns: With more than 50% of businesses being women-owned, there is no shortage of excellent spots in St. Johns. A few to mention are Weird Sisters YarnTwo Rivers BookstoreHound and Hare VintageRoM, and Daydreamer Coffee
  • Williams District: Discover the magic at Blackthorn Mercantile, a Williams District boutique that is women-owned. Another long-time favorite is Workshop Vintage, a shop filled with beautiful vintage clothing, jewelry, accessories, home décor, and so much more.
