Established in the Philippines, Filipino Food Month is celebrated every April to honor Filipino cuisine’s robust history and diversity. Portland is hosting the first-ever Filipino Food Month crawl this year thanks to Amanda Mailey of ALIST and two other local Filipina women, entitled SOBRANG SARAP . Local Filipinx-owned businesses in Portland are coming together to launch an annual celebration not to miss. April was designated Filipino Food Month to appreciate and preserve Filipino culinary heritage and the farmers and fishermen who make it all possible. There are 16 businesses featured in this tour – check out the details here!

  • 82nd Avenue: lolani’s Plate Lunch is a little food cart tucked in the busy district on 82nd that serves some of the best Hawaiian food on the SE edge of Portland.
  • Central Eastside: Every dish on the menu at Makulít food cart seems to be a challenge rooted in balance: How can chefs Castillo and Bautista infuse fast food staples with Filipino flavors, which most of their clientele have never tasted? They succeed at every attempt, try it for yourself!
  • Cully: Serving Hawaiian food with a Filipino flare, GrindWitTryz is a crowd pleaser! They also offer catering at their new, larger location!

  • Foster: For over a decade, Tambayan Restaurant has been a beloved mainstay in Portland. Their authentic Filipino recipes keep locals coming in droves to enjoy their savory adobo and crispy crunchy lechon kawali. And, of course, every Filipino meal should start with a plate of lumpia and end with a sweet, creamy bowl of halo halo.
