The ongoing crisis in Ukraine has already had catastrophic impacts, with more than two million Ukrainians fleeing the country and many others trapped in besieged cities. Here in Portland, many feel powerless as they watch the war unfold on television and social media. However, many local businesses are stepping up to raise funds for those affected by this tragedy. Here are some ways you can help:

  • Central Eastside: Baerlic Brewing are matching donations up to $10,000 to be donated to humanitarian relief efforts in Ukraine. Participate by going to their website to donate directly through their webstore, or stop by one of their pubs for a pint. Ukrainian restaurant Kachka will  donate 100% of proceeds of the Chervona Wine cocktail to the Red Cross. Portland Potato Vodka are donating 10% of sales of their 1.75 liter bottles sold for the next four months to the International Rescue Committee.
  • Downtown: On 3/11, all of the sales and tips generated at Mama Chow’s Kitchen will be donated to Chef José Andrés non-profit organization “World Central Kitchen”, which has been feeding Ukrainian refugees.
  • Gateway: On their website, The Ukrainian Federal Credit Union has a list of ways you can support the victims of the current crisis.
  • Midway: The Slavic Community Center of NW will host a fundraiser at St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church on 3/12 from 2:30-6pm with traditional music, food, and desserts.
  • Montavilla: On 3/16, Threshold Brewing and Blending will host local Polish band Zabavva and serve traditional pączki and Polish cakes, Polish-style beer as well as zapiekanka. Think of it as a mash-up between Polish pizza and an open-faced sandwich.
  • Online: Portland-based Ukrainian artist Tatyana Ostapenko is giving away artwork to anyone who makes a donation to GlobalGiving’s Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund.
  • Pearl District: T Project, an organic tea shop, has launched a fundraising effort called “Holding Hands with Ukraine.” The store will donate 25% of their sales to Direct Relief, a non-profit providing medical supplies, food, and humanitarian relief to Ukraine.
  • St. JohnsWeird Sisters Yarn is selling custom sunflower tote bags with 100% of the sales going to UNICEF to help children in and around Ukraine who need immediate help. Lombard House is selling five, ten, and twenty dollar ‘Pravda Cocktails,’ which are not an actual cocktail, but a donation to Ukrainian brewery, Pravda.

This list is non-exhaustive. If you know of any other businesses raising funds for Ukrainian relief, share it with us on Instagram and Facebook.
