As we head into March, the latest bout of cold weather is a reminder that winter is still going strong. However, that is no reason to stay at home. Portlanders are no stranger to braving the elements. Taking a stroll around your favorite neighborhood can be quite pleasant if you are prepared. Many neighborhood businesses have adapted to life outdoors with warm drinks, toasty patios and hot winter styles. If you are looking to warm up on a cold day, these small businesses can help:
- Alberta: The annual Heart of Darkness Imperial Stout Fest is back at Imperial Bottleshop this Saturday, 2/26. Enjoy a slew of sultry stouts from breweries across the state.
- Beaumont: Swing by Blackbird Wine Shop for a glass of wine and a snack under their outdoor heaters or cozy indoor fireplace. They have a very knowledgeable staff who can guide you to the perfect wine.
- Belmont: Hot tea never fails to chase away the rainy day blues. Try a new variety at The Leaf Room, which carries over 200 teas, herbs, and spices.
- Foster: Looking for a tropical getaway to escape the cold? Look no further than Da Hui Bar and Grill! Authentic Hawaiian eats are paired with luscious island drinks in Foster Road’s urban Tiki hideaway.
- Gateway: March 1st is Jet Black Coffee’s 5th anniversary! Jet Black Coffee is a vegan coffeehouse featuring excellent coffee and delicious locally made vegan treats.
